M’elle (Maryellen) is a licensed physical therapist and an advanced John Barnes Myofascial Release practitioner with a private practice in Saratoga Springs, NY. She received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY in 1996. After graduation, M’elle worked as a Supervising Physical Therapist for Liberty/Montgomery County ARC, working with individuals with developmental disabilities and supervising the PT department. While working at Liberty, M’elle became interested in the John F. Barnes approach to Myofascial Release (MFR). Using MFR with clients at Liberty, she was able to provide relief from discomfort due to spacticity associated with cerebral palsy.
While continuing her training with John F. Barnes, M’elle realized her interests lay in the areas of treatment of chronic pain and women’s health. In July of 2005, she began seeing private patients. And then in July of 2006, she left her position at Liberty to pursue her dream of private practice. Her practice integrates myofascial release with exercise and self-treatment programs in the areas of musculoskeletal, neurological and chronic pain disorders.
She believes that the quickest way to reduce pain and improve function is to have patients be actively involved in their treatments, as well as their self-treatment/home exercise programs between sessions.
Based in Saratoga Springs, M’elle sees a variety of patients with diverse diagnoses. She also works as a coverage therapist at the Myofascial Pain Relief Center in Paoli, PA and has begun assisting at JohnBarnes seminars.
Her MFR courses include: Myofascial Mobilization, MFR I, MFR II, MFR III, Unwinding, Fascial Pelvis, Cervical Thoracic, Skill Enhancement, Subtle Energy I and II, Healing Seminar, Rebounding, Therapy for the Therapist, Women’s Health and Advanced Unwinding
